Royal Harbor Update: 05/23/2019

Let’s all get those FLAGS out Friday and put them up for Memorial Day Weekend. If you have not picked yours up stop here and I’ll give them to you.

Summer is here no matter what the calendar says. We had our first named Storm come and go, the temps are hitting 95 and the humidity has now come full circle back in the 75+ category. Its summer, the water temp is in the 80’s again and rain starts to pop up about 4 in the afternoon and lasts about an hour or more.  Hopefully, it will be a quiet one as there are still people putting on roofs from Irma’s wrath.

Naples officially opened the new Fire Station today. Where but in Naples can a resident population of around 22,000 afford a new fire station over 6 million dollars? I know it’s also to be used as the bunker and command headquarters for the city in storms, but still. Pretty expensive digs. These fire departments are always wanting more and more of your tax dollars. Well, the economy is pretty good right now, I guess. Residents voted to increase taxes in the last election and there was not even a designated project for all the money expected to be collected. Do you think that will be enough? Wait, there will be more coming.

I just read an article stating that Naples was the number one spot for a good economic outlook for job seekers. It was based on income available, economic growth expected and amenities. Do you remember when everyone up North had the dream to retire in Florida?  No heat bills, no state income tax, low taxes all around and one could retire and relax, go the Isles of Collier Preserve, Treviso Bay, and so on, out to Collier Boulevard.  Now, the big newer houses in here are being built and are selling. These are all over 3 million and many now into the 5 million range. This is a different market, and if you are in here, you are going along in a steady but slowly rising market. The million dollars homes are now all tear downs. The million to two million are stuck. Two million to Three fix and do over to suit yourself.  On the Bay? Some selling over 5 million and some listed over 7 million. WOW
